William Masson
I am a French-Australian originally from the Basque Country in the southwest of France. I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from Clermont Auvergne University. For three years, I worked as an IT engineer at INRAE (the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment) in Aix-en-Provence, within the national research centre for lake ecosystems. During that time, I contributed to the development of a web platform for the dissemination and valorisation of data on French lacustrine ecosystems.
In 2023, I moved to Australia and decided to align my career more closely with my passion for the environment by pursuing a Diploma of Conservation and Ecosystem Management on the Sunshine Coast. In parallel with my studies, I had the opportunity to work in the field as a bush regenerator, contributing to ecological restoration efforts and the control of invasive flora.
I’m now excited to combine my background in IT and environmental conservation as part of the Global Ecosystem Atlas initiative.
