TESS HARMER
I am an Environmental Scientist from Adelaide who is now lucky to call North Queensland my home after moving to Townsville in 2021 to study a Bachelors of Marine Science. I am particularly interested in geomorphology as the intersection of physical, chemical and biological processes, so in 2024 I undertook an Honours in Environmental Science and Management focusing on Coral Reef Geomorphology. My thesis explored the geomorphic change of Michaelmas Cay, one of the most important seabird rookeries on the GBR. I enjoyed using GIS to explore spatial and temporal change throughout my Honours year, and I am excited to learn more about remote sensing and its applications while I work at the Global Ecology Lab at JCU. In my spare time I am often out in nature cloud watching or bird watching, always staying curious about the natural world around me.
