Meghana Iyer
I am a Master of Marine Biology student at James Cook University with a strong interest in spatial ecology and data-driven conservation. My work focuses on using quantitative and geospatial tools to better understand ecological patterns and inform large-scale conservation planning.
With a background in ecological field research and biodiversity assessment, I am particularly interested in how environmental data can be translated into meaningful insights for ecosystem management. I work primarily with tools such as R and Google Earth Engine to analyse and visualise ecological datasets.
Beyond research, I enjoy birdwatching, writing, painting, and exploring creative ways to communicate science. I am particularly interested in how ecological data can be translated into meaningful insights for conservation planning and public engagement. Through my placement with the Global Ecology Lab, I aim to deepen my expertise in spatial ecology while contributing to research that supports evidence-based conservation outcomes.
