Elena Valdes Reyes

I am currently completing a Bachelor of Science at James Cook University in Townsville, majoring in Data Science and Marine Biology. Through this combination, I have developed a strong interest in geospatial data, which I see as an ideal intersection of ecological understanding and analytical methods. Looking ahead, I hope to apply these skills to conservation planning across both terrestrial and marine ecosystems.

Before beginning my studies in 2024, I completed my Divemaster qualification and worked as a research diver with the Crown‑of‑Thorns Control Program, spending most of my time offshore. On land, I expanded my technical capabilities in geospatial analysis, gaining experience with Esri’s GIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, and Survey123.

In my free-time I enjoy swimming, hiking, catching up with friends and reading books about nature.
