DHRUV NARAYAN
Dhruv is a Biodiversity Data Scientist at the Global Ecology lab who holds a Masters of Science majoring in Marine Biology from James Cook University. Passionate about conservation, Dhruv applies remote sensing, ecological modelling and big data analytics to deepen our understanding of ecosystem distribution globally.Â
At the lab, Dhruv integrates large-scale spatial and biodiversity datasets to drive ecosystem identification and leads a team of remote sensing analysts to build an open access training dataset of global ecosystem occurrence records (Ecotrain). This dataset aims to assist environmental research and data-driven conservation policy worldwide.
As a side project during his time at the Global Ecology Lab, Dhruv was involved with the creation of EcoViewer, an open-access environmental reference platform, which was submitted to the 2026 edition of the GBIF Ebbe Nielsen Challenge.
